Technology and isolation are the main themes of Sarah Ruhl’s Dead Man’s Cell Phone. In this design, the branching steel cage symbolizes the extensive yet ultimately cold nature of virtual interaction; meanwhile, the organic wooden flooring and furniture represent naturalistic human connections. The neutral palette juxtaposes the boldly colored costumes, allowing the characters to pop against their surroundings in a style inspired by the work of Edward Hopper.
