
M. L. (they/them) is a Scenic Design MFA candidate at the University of Connecticut, where they are projected to graduate in Spring 2026.
As a designer, M. L. is passionate about connecting with audiences through all manner of live performance. Their work begins with rigorous script analysis and grounded research, which provides a solid foundation from which they can then explore the creative potential of a space.
Before designing full-time, M.L. studied and worked as a mechanical engineer. In addition to their technical abilities, they developed strong problem-solving and project management skills, which have been essential in their scenic design career.
M. L. has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and holds a minor in both Industrial Design & Japanese.
